TAIDEN Unveils the Revolutionary Digital IR Wireless Classroom Audio System TES-5600 --- the Global Bellwether of Digital IR Technology Offers Schools Paramount Speech Intelligibility
2015-10-22

TAIDEN Industrial Co., Ltd., an internationally top-ranking supplier of conference systems, has brought its products to prestigious meeting venues and conferences including the UN headquarters, the World Bank headquarters, the G20 Summit and APEC meetings. The Digital IR Wireless Conference System and the 40-channel Digital IR Language Distribution System are born out of TAIDEN's proprietary digital IR processing chip.

Now TAIDEN as a spearhead introduces the advanced technology into multimedia teaching and provides schools with the first digital IR wireless classroom audio system ever. The system featuring interference immunity, utmost privacy, ease of management and crystal-clear audio quality, is an ideal solution for sound transmission in teaching environment.

At present, wireless audio solution falls into two categories: radio frequency (RF) transmission and Infrared (IR) transmission.

1. The non-directional RF transmission, including UHF, VHF and 2.4G WiFi, Bluetooth, and etc., penetrates walls and carries sound further (to 50-100 m away), which makes it a convenient solution for general audio transmission. The technology is commonly used on theatrical wireless microphones and walkie-talkies.

When it comes to special environment like conference venues and schools with dozens or even hundreds of adjacent rooms, the use of RF microphones could easily bring about interferences and crosstalk affecting class teaching. Besides, frequency of the microphones needs to be adjusted each time when they are used in a different room, which could be very frustrating and time-consuming. That's what keeps a large-scale application of RF microphones in schools behind.

2. IR transmission technology is subdivided into analog IR and digital IR. They share the following characteristics: transmitting linearly but without penetrating walls, free from radio disturbance and license applying, yet highly directional. IR wireless system with its utmost privacy and interference immunity is suitable for places where signal isolation is needed, such as meeting rooms, classrooms and KTV rooms. Running hundreds of IR systems in adjacent rooms will cause no interferences and need no use of frequency spectrum.

The IR technology used in classes for many years is of analog, the audio signal of which is modulated to the 2-6 MHz wave band (frequency modulation) before transmitted via IR radiation. Frequency modulation (FM) has become a popular practice by manufacturers due to the low-threshold and low-cost development and production.

However, the analog IR technology based on FM has not reached perfection with the following defects: poor quality of all-channel audio, narrower frequency spectrum (4-5 KHz), lower S/N ratio (55-60 dB, max.) and shorter transmission distance (6-8 m). The analog IR signal would easily attenuate with longer transmission distance, which fortifies noise and brings S/N down.

TAIDEN has been aware of the bottleneck of analog IR and decided to invest in developing a digital IR wireless classroom audio system using its technological advantage so as to provide a perfect audio solution for classrooms.

The Digital IR Wireless Lecturing System finally came out in May of 2015 after TAIDEN's unremitting endeavors. The innovation is going to effect substantial changes in the market of education equipment.

The new product using TAIDEN's proprietary digital IR chip modulates audio signal with DQPSK technology and then demodulates the signal with IR radiation. All-channel audio from the new microphones sound perfect owing to the following merits: 50 - 20 kHz frequency response, 85 dB S/N ratio, THD lower than 0.06%, longest linear transmission distance over 25 m and the radiation radius wider than 12 m in application. In short, where there is digital IR signal, there is CD quality audio!

The classroom audio system also features:

1. external audio input: lecturers could easily play audios from gadgets like MP3 or mobile phones to students via the microphone;

2. gravity sensor: microphone turns off automatically after being put down for 15 minutes;

3. free switch to different signal sources with selection buttons;

4. up to 4 microphones could be used under one system;

5. built-in power amplifier in the compact main unit (A model) enabling connection to 4 loudspeakers of 40 W;

6. automatic acoustic feedback suppression;

7. USB interface realizing quality-lossless sound recording during class on PC and intact input of streaming audio into the system;

8. RS-232 port allowing smart control of peripheral equipment;

9. two line-in and two line-out ports;

10. four IR-receiver ports for wider receiving range;

11. alarm interface to trigger the alarm system in case of emergencies;

12. long battery run time: pendant microphone up to 14 hours, and hand-held microphone 12 hours;

13. light-weight microphones providing users with hours of fatigue-free use: the pendant type (with the battery and neck lanyard) 82 g and the hand-held (with battery) 182 g;

14. Moreover, users don't need to worry about electromagnetic radiation any more since there is no radio emission;

15. For environment like schools where multiple systems need to be running at the same time, handy installation, ease of management and stable operation of a system is of great importance. The Digital IR Wireless Lecturing System spares its users the trouble of adjusting frequencies and allows them to simply switch on and talk. The ideal scenario would be that each teacher keeps one microphone for himself/herself, which is more convenient and sanitary.

16. Besides, it is free from disturbances of HF driven lights and works perfectly in sunlight. A single one receiver could receive signals in a range of 12-meter radius without any fade area. Microphones are fully functional even when users are facing the black-board.

In line with its consistent principle of striving for perfection, TAIDEN developed the trustworthy digital IR lecturing system, which met with encouraging and enthusiastic responses. Customers are very glad to see TAIDEN fill the gap in the education equipment market with a perfect wireless audio solution.

With TAIDEN's new offering, lecturer could spare sore throat from long-time loud talking and listeners could get the gist more efficiently.
